Am I a writer who paints, or a painter who writes? Luckily, I don't have to choose because I don't think I could. I was painting before I could write, but made my living as a journalist until leaving Fairfax Media to combine my two loves.
Today I share my time at the easel with days at the computer and my paintings adorn walls in homes around Australia. I mostly work in oils on cradled MDF, which offers a very smooth and stable surface - and also does not require framing.
Having returned to art classes at a more "mature" age, I have learned from some of Australia's most celebrated contemporary artists. I paint about the places, people and things that have inspired and formed me.
